Alongside this, Hausheld Group has acquired Mako 365 and GreenPocket, bringing together four complementary specialists to form Germany’s largest independent smart metering platform. The new group’s goal is to simplify smart metering by connecting proven technologies into one coherent and future-proof system.
The new Hausheld Group – which is headquartered in Mönchengladbach – can address the needs of the mandatory segment through Solandeo’s residential and commercial offering with attached renewable energy generation units, the default segment through Hausheld AG’s regional and city-wide solutions in partnership with municipal utilities, and now provide additional data-driven services through GreenPocket’s advanced energy management software and Mako 365’s market communication solutions.
Hausheld AG has been providing municipal utilities with modular solutions that enable city-wide smart meter rollouts without any upfront costs since 2017. One of the few companies to be certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), its platform technology and proven smart meter solutions support Germany’s plans to achieve climate neutrality by 2045.
Solandeo provides producers and suppliers of energy with a cost-effective and reliable smart metering solution. The business uses proprietary IT and software systems to provide customers with the data they need to forecast spend and reduce energy use. It also offers remote control solutions to support the integration of sustainable energy solutions into Germany’s grid. Within the Hausheld Group, Solandeo acts as the competitive metering point operator, taking responsibility for nationwide rollouts for prosumer customers and energy communities.
GreenPocket is a smart energy software specialist that develops intuitive, data-driven energy management solutions, enabling utilities and companies to engage customers, optimise energy consumption and accelerate the energy transition.
Mako 365 offers fully automated market communication services for energy suppliers and metering point operators, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting efficient data exchange across the German energy market.
All of the individual businesses will continue to operate under their existing brands but will be strengthened by the broader smart metering capabilities across the Hausheld Group. Hausheld AG CEO Bouke Stoffelsma will lead the Hausheld Group as CEO.
In 2024, Ancala acquired a 50% stake in Hausheld and a majority interest in Solandeo. This combination provides Ancala with a majority interest in the new Hausheld Group. Ancala will continue to provide capital and its expertise to enable the Hausheld Group to meet the rapidly growing demand for smart meters. This follows the German government’s recent mandate that smart meters be rolled out nationally to commercial and residential customers from 2025 onwards, with a target of 95% coverage of eligible metering points by 2030.
Bouke Stoffelsma, CEO, Hausheld Group, comments:
“This is an exciting milestone for Hausheld, Solandeo, Mako 365, GreenPocket and all of our customers and employees. Through uniting our teams, cultures, and expertise, we are creating a stronger group that is best-placed to unlock new opportunities for innovation and enhance our services. Together, Hausheld Group offers a market-leading solution that meets the evolving needs of the German smart metering market.”
Tim Power, Partner, Ancala, adds:
“The Hausheld Group is a smart metering powerhouse that serves the largest segments in the German market. We are actively working with the group to provide capital to deliver on its substantial order book and unlock new opportunities to create value and build on its market-leading position. We’re looking forward to the business achieving its potential through collaboration, the new expertise and broader services it can offer.”
