Ancala, the leading independent infrastructure manager, has appointed Sebastian Schwengber as a Director in its Asset Management team.

Sebastian will help deliver the firm’s proactive value creation strategy.

Sebastian has over 15 years’ experience working in the energy and infrastructure industries. He brings significant experience of actively managing infrastructure companies having overseen strategy and business plan reviews, refinancings and the implementation of ESG improvement plans.

He joins Ancala from Allianz Capital Partners where he spent three years as a Director in its Direct Infrastructure Team. During this period, he worked with companies in the utilities, energy and digital sectors.  Prior to this role, Sebastian was an Associate Director at 3i Infrastructure where he worked with companies in the utilities, energy transition and transport sectors.

Sebastian has also held roles at National Grid and in the Energy & Utilities team at strategy consulting firm Roland Berger.

At Ancala, Sebastian will work closely with portfolio company management teams to deliver business plans and create value.

Ancala has a long track record for enabling growth. To date, it has provided more than 40% of the initial investment capital in follow-on funding to enable its portfolio firms to grow organically and through acquisition. On average, its portfolio firms have grown revenues by more than 65% since first investment.1

Ashley Hough, Head of Asset Management, Ancala, said:

“Sebastian brings a broad range of asset management and sector experience to enhance our proactive approach to asset management. We’re delighted to have him on board and are confident of the benefits he will bring to our portfolio companies and our growing Asset Management team.”

Sebastian Schwengber, Director, Ancala, commented:

“I’m really pleased to be joining Ancala at such an exciting time. The firm has an impressive portfolio of critical infrastructure companies across different sectors and geographies. I am looking forward to helping Ancala deliver its differentiated strategy and working with portfolio companies to create value.”

Sebastian’s appointment follows a busy period for Ancala. From April 2023 to March 2024, the firm deployed more than €600m into new and existing critical infrastructure assets and closed two funds.
