The platform owns and operates Lehigh Valley Rail Management (LVRM), a 61-mile freight rail network and intermodal terminal in Pennsylvania.
Through its rail operations in Bethlehem and Johnstown, LVRM provides access to three class 1 railroads in North America: Norfolk Southern, CSX and CPKC. The railroads are situated between multiple major metropolitan areas including New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC. Its intermodal terminal and freight services are critical for enabling the efficient transportation of freight through the Northeastern USA.
Phoenix Rail is led by a highly experienced management team with proven capabilities in growing and improving short line rail businesses over three decades.
We identified that the proven management team was looking for an investment partner with the capital and expertise which Ancala could offer to re-enter the market.
Working with the management team, we acquired LVRM, an established short line rail owner and operator. The investment was secured on a bilateral basis.
Ancala is actively working with Phoenix Rail to deliver on its value creation plans, further invest in the existing infrastructure and expand customer relationships.
