He joined Ancala in 2020 and has extensive experience of the waste industry, regulated businesses and the management of major engineering and infrastructure companies. He is a member of Ancala’s investment and valuation committees.
As CEO of the Pennon Group from 2016 to 2020, Chris led the sale of Viridor. Chris is also an expert in the water industry. He was a Member of the Board and CEO of South West Water from 2006 to 2020 and was previously a board member and President of the Institute of Water, Chairman of Water UK and Chairman of British Water. He was formerly Chairman of Reall, a global charity providing affordable housing in the developing world, and a Non Executive Director of Mears plc, a housing care and management company.
Chris started his career as a chartered engineer and, after an international engineering career, held a number of senior positions within the British nuclear industry, including Executive Chairman of Magnox Electric plc and as an Executive and Board Director of British Nuclear Fuels. He subsequently became Chief Operating Officer with Lloyds Register, the leading global engineering, compliance and certification organisation. Chris was also a senior diplomat in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and served as Counsellor for Atomic Energy in the British Embassy in Japan.
